Join the Fight!
Kimberly is a single mom and farmer and homeschools her three children ages 14, 12, and 10. Both sides of Kimberly’s family helped settle the Southside of Virginia and Roanoke. Her father’s side were some of the first colonists and her ancestors fought bravely in wars that established the freedoms we cherish today. Kimberly is a Virginian through and through and will fight for Virginia values and Constitutional rights that her ancestors so bravely fought for.
Kimberly wanted to be an archaeologist when she was 10 and by middle school she wanted to be in Congress but Archaeology won out! She started doing archaeology at the age of 12 and it was her first paid job. She did archaeology in Virginia and Southern Russia. She graduated with Honors and at the top of her class being chosen to lead out her graduating classes and obtaining faculty scholarships. She obtained an Associates in Science, a Bachelors of Science in Anthropology and Biology, a Masters in Chemistry and Biology from Hollins University, and post Masters coursework towards a Doctorate in Pharmacognosy (removing compounds from plants for pharmaceutical use) in Europe. Kimberly studied and travelled through Europe for some years and came back to teach math and science in Middle School and High School in inner city minority schools, and College until she had three beautiful children and decided to homeschool.
Kimberly spent time raising her three children but has always been passionate about community and politics. Kimberly has had a lifetime of service to her communities through volunteering whether it was animal rescue, adult day care, delivering meals on wheels, raising money for homeless, or engaging youth in charities and partnerships, she has been actively involved. Having been a public school teacher she saw the problems from within and knew they could not be solved at the teacher level. When she moved to Brunswick County from Roanoke in 2014 she saw so many ways she could improve communities through legislation. In 2017, her husband and partner of 20 years abandoned her and their three children. It was through that difficult period she learned how there was little to no mental health care access and that courts are corrupt. Constitutional rights do not appear to exist in family and civil court and families across the nation are being destroyed by a lack of judicial education, poor legislative policy, unjust biases held, and due to a money making billion dollar industry. On one hand hundreds of children are placed back with their abuser and end up murdered across the nation, while on the other hand so many parents are unjustly losing their children due to a broken system and lack of due process. Kimberly has the energy and sight to transform our communities for the better and will fight for EVERYONE!
Kimberly started rescuing animals at a very young age starting with birds. She volunteered to rehabilitate wildlife through her childhood and college but she also grew up on the back of a horse! When she was old enough to support herself she started to rescue horses and branched out to goats, sheep, llamas, alpacas, rabbits, ducks, geese, chickens, pigs, dogs, and cats! Kimberly also plays most stringed instruments and was able to write, play, record, and produce three albums in 2017.
In Brunswick County she has enjoyed her farm and country life! Kimberly represents the majority in her district in that she is a farmer and single parent!
Kimberly loves being active and outdoors! She runs, rides horses, mountain bikes, shoots for sport, and was a TEAM USA Triathlon member (swim, bike, run) having competed in London! She couldn’t swim, bike, or run and in two years she made TEAM USA to represent our country because she can put in the hours of long work to be successful and can accomplish what she sets out to do! In college she was voted most likely to succeed! She will fight for you!!
Kimberly truly cares for our communities and she will fight to ensure you each have a voice, are part of the legislative process, and your quality of life improves. She is approachable, kind, honest, and hard working. She will be diligent and steadfast for Southside!
